13th Annual Standard Lesotho Bank Career Expo Kicks Off
21 March 2023: As the world continues to evolve, the world of work is also changing, and it demands that
the future workforce is best positioned to acquire future ready skills that will match technological
advancements and the needs of the economy. It is on this basis that Standard Lesotho Bank has partnered
with Mind Liberation Psychology towards the sponsorship of the 13th Standard Lesotho Bank Career Expo
from 27-31 March 2023. The Expo will be hosted nationwide to encourage relevant and continuous
learning, as well as explore a host of multiple career possibilities for Basotho students. A total investment
of M150,000 in sponsorship has been put towards the initiative, making the Bank the main sponsor of the
event.
The Career Expo will kick off in Leribe on 27 March 2023, then move on to Thaba-Tseka on 28 March 2023,
Qacha’s Nek on 29 March 2023, Mafeteng on 30 March 2023, and close off in Maseru on 31 March 2023.
The value adding exercise seeks to open high school learners to a host of career options available in
tertiary institutions so that as they leave High School, they are equipped with enough knowledge to make
informed career choices. Different industry leaders will aid to this knowledge by sharing their capability
about prospective careers and how the world of work might look like in the near future.
Held under the 2023 theme “Release the brakes on your career journey’’, this year’s expo emphasizes the
limitless career possibilities higher institutions have to offer, as well as place the obligation on the students
to make informed career choices. The theme aims to drive understanding that the students are behind
the wheel of their own futures and that the career is a wide-open highway stretched limitless in front of
them. This will be done through a unique, fun and interactive approach making use of presentations, info
help desks and demonstrations by various University representatives.
The week-long Career Expo assembles a collection of local tertiary institutions such as The National
University of Lesotho, Botho University, Lerotholi Polytechnic, Limkokwing University of Creative
Technology, Lesotho College of Education, Lesotho Agricultural College, and IBC College to name a few.
Additionally, over the years, South African tertiary institutions such as the University of Limpopo, The
University of Kwa-Zulu Natal, as well as Mangosutho University of Technology have contributed towards
the initiative by sharing information about their numerous programmes. Teachers, students, parents, and
guardians, as well as organizations and civil societies in the education and higher learning sector are
expected to attend.
“This is another way in which we demonstrate our insatiable appetite to partner with Basotho for the benefit of our children’s education and how future ready skills help to bolster the economy of our country going to the future. By this sponsorship, we open our doors for continued partnerships with learners, parents and the education sector and we are grateful that Mind Liberation Psychology saw us as the right partner in this endeavor.” Says Mr. Manyathela Kheleli, Manager for Communications and Sponsorships at Standard Lesotho Bank. More than merely empowering the youth, the 13th Annual Standard Lesotho Bank Career Expo will serve as a stage for the Bank and other brands to also showcase the relevance of their offerings to the youth.
